Learning Spanish & Romance in Spain

You have done it. Months of planning, saving, and hard work have finally paid and you are now living and learning in a spanish speaking country. You are ready to immerse yourself in the local culture and have all the excitement that staying in a foreign land can mean. Cities such as Buenos Aires, Valencia, and Quito are known for their romantic qualities. And maybe - just maybe - you will find a little bit of time for a little romance. After all, you are young, fit, and you date a good deal at home, right? So why not here?

Why not, indeed! Searching for romance in a foreign country has its own special kind of charm. You are overseas, and you cannot wait to see the areas and customs that are all so new to you. Finding that you are feeling amorous towards one of the natives can increase your excitement and enthrallment toward the country much more than any art museum or course! The opportunities to meet possible dates extend from inside a Spanish language school to a local cafe or resort, and even just a random city park.

There is one nuisance, however. You have knowledge of merely enough of the Spanish language to Find where you are staying, (you get lost now and then), and say please and thank you. Other than that you use the usual universal language for other things, such as bringing your hand repeatedly to your open mouth (where can I find food?), pretending to wash your hands (I need a bathroom), or waving (hello, goodbye).

You could be capable of finding a way to Inquire this person who has caught your eye out on a lunch date, but then what? How in the heavens are you meant to display to your date how brainy, worldly, and irresistible you are if all you can do is ask where the restaurant lavatory is and wave goodbye to your date as you go there? All of the exhilaration of traveling abroad in Costa Rica or studying Spanish in beautiful Madrid can be overpowering, and now you have to worry about not appearing to be a fool of yourself in front of this enchanting creature?

It may be a great idea to plan for this eventuality (you being the young, sound, exquisite, dateable creature that you are, after all) before you even jumped on the airplane. Gaining a little fundamental knowledge of a little bit of dating conversation in your designated lovers Spanish language, whether you will study in Spain or live in Argentina, can go a long way in facilitating you over the tough patches while eating with the object of your affection. Learning some Spanish words and phrases can go a long way.

Tell your date that you are a foreign student, studying or volunteering in his/her fantastic homeland. A gorgeous Spanish girl is in all likelihood to be impressed that you are immersed in Spanish in Barcelona, and a sexy Argentinean man is likely to be impressed by an American girl studying in Buenos Aires. This may get you an insider tour of regions only known by the locals, and will in all probability make your date more understanding. After all, you enjoy his/her motherland enough to move thousands of miles away from your residence to study there!

Using universal signals, body language, and motions can go a long way when you are straining to communicate with your date, but you may want to pay particular attention to how people in his or her area motion when they speak. Rubbing your tummy to indicate that you are delighting in the lunch may mean to your date that you are pregnant. If you are a man, this could really cause some mix-ups. So observe, observe, and observe some more.
